With an increasing number of people required to travel for work, pre-travel preparation is important to reduce the risk of the potential impact of illness on work performance and productivity.
Expatriates and longer term travellers are at greater risk of a travel related disease due to increased exposure, travel to unplanned destinations and are more likely to relax their preventative measures.
At WORKWELL we offer corporate travellers a pre-travel medical assessment and comprehensive travel advice including:
· Specific advice and counselling appropriate to the countries in which they are travelling
· Counselling regarding risks and benefits of the various travel vaccinations, including Yellow fever, Typhoid, Hepatitis A, Japanese Encephalitis, Rabies and all the routine child and adult vaccinations. We administer these vaccines by appointment, 7 days per week.
Our doctors and nurses are trained to provide information relevant to the location individuals are travelling, utilising the most up to date Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) information: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/list
We provide prescriptions for medications that may be required for prophylaxis of disease or symptoms control – e.g. Traveller’s diarrhoea, Malaria, Altitude sickness.
General pre-travel advice is important for all travellers and can be used for any destination, regarding:
- Safe food and drink
- Sun safety
- Insect avoidance
- Environmental and animal exposure
- Substance abuse
- Sexual encounters
- Blood borne infections
- Insurance (including evacuation)
We offer individualised advice on how to manage any chronic diseases whilst traveling, for example the safe management of diabetes.
We can offer advice on appropriate travel kits, and the appropriate medications. We are happy to provide a letter suitable for customs to explain any drugs that are being carried whilst travelling.
Telephone/skype/email consults are available for the traveller where required.
We are also experienced in providing post travel assessments and management of any travel related diseases.
